Frontier Farwest Lodge

Derek Botchford and Andrea Soto would like to welcome you to Frontier Farwest Steelhead Lodge on the banks of the Bulkley River.   We have been chasing fish together all over the world from Chile’s Patagonia to the spring creeks of New Zealand.   For the past 7 years we have spent 8 months out of 12 operating remote fishing lodges in Alaska and Chile.    We have recently purchased Frontier Farwest Steelhead Lodge.  It represents all the elements we were looking for in an operation. 

Our philosophy with fishing lodges has always been that the basis of a good operation starts with the fishing program.  The Bulkley River exemplifies this tenfold, as it is in the heart of wild steelhead paradise.   Both Andrea and I are passionate about our steelhead fishing.    When we took our first float down the canyon stretches on the Bulkley River we were completely enamored.   It is as remote and as beautiful as any stretch of water we have encountered anywhere in the world.     After fishing the Skeena drainage for many years we always knew we would develop our own operation somewhere on it.   When we realized we could take over the only two river camps on the entire Bulkley River, along with Frontier Farwest Lodge, we knew we had found our picture perfect operation.  We have also made an addition to the fishing program with the opportunity for our guests to fish the Morice River during their stay.

The next crucial ingredient to a successful lodge is the service it provides.   We have learned these skills from the best in the industry.    We are extremely detail oriented, and will make your experience here with us one that will never be forgotten.   The lodges we have worked at have always maintained a loyal clientele.   Doing that here is at the forefront of every single decision we make.    From the moment you book with us until the time you leave, we will do everything we can to make your trip exactly what you desire it to be.    We can guarantee that in fishing with us you will never have to deal with large egos, or arrogant personalities.   You will have to deal with friendly attitudes, an extremely hard work ethic,  and large portions of gourmet food.  

Andrea maintains an extremely clean and organized lodge.   She ensures that each meal is well thought out and prepared with care and detail.   Her joy, and exuberance for life is contagious.  To be greeted each morning and evening with her big smile and sincere kind words makes everyone’s day.   We truly take pride in our operation and look forward to hosting your week on the Bulkley River.
