We are pleased to inform the fishing world that the operation is under new ownership. The team of Derek Botchford, Andrea Soto, and Mike VanWormer have brought a fresh new look and feel to the Bulkley Valley. This year looks to be a banner year for fishing and we are excited for opening day of Steelhead season on the Bulkley River. For us there is nowhere else we would rather be in the world. We have been fishing the Bulkley for years and feel a trip with us is the ultimate in fresh water fishing. You can expect to hook 1-3 fish a day. However each fish will be quite huge with the chance of seeing one tipping the scales over 20 pounds. British Columbia is the last place in North America that still has large runs of these wild steelhead. When you catch a few steelhead the addiction begins. The tug is the drug.
What we like best about our operation is that it has a mix of remote wilderness fishing with the creature comforts of being close to town. We have the only two river camps on the entire Bulkley River. This gives us opportunities to fish inaccessible water that is far from any road. We offer 2 separate overnight float trips, and the rest of the week we do day trips from the lodge. When we do our overnight floats its just you and your guide drifting and fishing through beautiful canyons with backdrops of hanging glaciers and mountains. The camps are located on epic steelhead runs so you can fish right into dark if you choose. However the main lodge is located in the small community of Telkwa. Thus it is easy to get here, and its easy to get around. The lodge is right on the river so we can do day floats that either begin or end right at the lodge.
Even though the Bulkley is one of the worlds top 10 steelhead rivers, it is not just the fish that keep people coming back every year. The scenery, and the wildlife are unbelievable. It is an amazing adventure, relaxing, and exciting all at the same time. Our availability is dwindling as we only run a short 8 week season. We do have some slots available so if you are interested just let us know which week suits you best.
