Frontier Farwests newest addition : Michael Brackenhofer, born 24.May, 1965 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany.

Michael comes to us after guiding many years at Bell 2 lodge on the Bell Irving. He has extensive knowledge about all our species of fish here in BC.  He has fished the river systems of the Thompson, Fraser, Chilko, Skeena, Nass and Stikine watershed.

Ray is a true legend in the Bulkley Valley and all the staff and guides at Frontier Farwest revere his accomplishments over his 40 year career guiding on the Morice River.  Ever since Ray started fishing on the Morice, he preached catch and release fly fishing for steelhead.

He was a pioneer and a man far beyond his years.  His passion for fly tying has made him very well known as he is the creator of many famous patterns.  Ray is an expert in the art of taking steelhead on dry flies.  He has probably tailed more steelhead caught on dries than anyone else in the world.

It can be the coldest, windiest, wettest winter day, and Joel will come rowing down the river with a grin on his face. Oh ya, he's a true steelhead junkie.

He is a technician when it comes to finding steelhead on the Bulkley and Morice rivers. Constantly changing his methods to match the conditions. His knowledge comes from experience. He has been a key ingredient to the success of Frontier farwest fishing lodge for many years, and will anchor the staff for years to come. He has quickly become one of the most respected guides in the region.

Often times fishing guides speak of a great passion they have for the sport. They live, eat, and breath fishing.  Derek Botchford exemplifies this attitude. His love of fly fishing is contagious. Derek’s instructing philosophy is based on the most respected and freshest training concepts today in flyfishing.
