Frontier Farwest Update

With some late cancelations we had some work to do last month but as of last week the 2013 season is 100% full capacity.  Congratulations to everyone who got a space whether you are doing a day trip with Ray MaKowichuk, fishing the canyon, or joining us at the lodge.

With Steelhead season in our sights the excitement level is starting to build.  Right now in the Skeena system and nearby rivers everyone has there eyes on the Chinook entering the river.  Kitimat is showing a good early return, and the Kalum has been decent.  We are excited to see the Bulkley dropping a little right now and hope to get into some salmon on opening day which is June 16.  The low snow pack has given us all hope for a salmon season on the Bulkley and Skeena.

We are happy to announce all our guide staff from 2012 will be returning.  That usually means more pre season fishing time, and less training which is always great for everyone. Our head guide at Morice River Lodge Scott Baker-McGarva is expecting a baby at the start of the season so you may not see him on the water until mid september.  We will miss our Morice chef as well, Steph was fantastic but will be an even better mother.    We all wish Scott and Steph the best and look forward to meeting their new addition.

The newly wed Steve Morrow will be running our canyon trips again this fall after his season on the Dean River.  Ray Makowichuck, and Jim Britton legends of the Morice will once again be part of the team.  We have a stock of flies tied by Ray at the lodge if folks are interested in fishing his flies.

The FFW team is starting to make plans to get the lodge program opened within the next couple of weeks.  That means tuning up all the boats, setting up camps, and hauling in gas and firewood to the Morice. The next couple of months are a lot of work filled in with a lot of fishing.  We will keep you posted and updated as we go.

The momentum is shifting, and the summer is near.  Follow us on facebook, or twitter if you are not already, or keep and eye out here for the latest.
